Small Groups
We are companions on a journey—teaching, learning, supporting, challenging, and guiding each other in a non-judgmental community of care and compassion. As such, in addition to weekly worship, our small groups provide an opportunity to strengthen relationships and to deepen and explore faith.
Learn more about these groups below, or reach out to one of our pastors if there’s a new idea you’d like to explore. We hope you will join us on the journey!
Morning Bible Discussion
We regularly gather to study scripture and reflect on how God’s word informs our living today. Instead of following a curriculum, we simply choose a book of the Bible and read it out loud together, pausing as we do to reflect on what the text is saying and how it may impact our lives today. No previous Bible study or Biblical literacy is needed. All are welcome.
Reach out to our Senior Pastor for more information.
Parents Group
All those doing the hard and good work of parenting children of any age are invited gather to share laughter, mutual support, prayer, and wisdom. This drop-in group meets regularly over Zoom, and in-person when it is safe.
Reach out to Pastor Amy for details.
Book Group
Book Group meets monthly during the church year to discuss a book that we have read in common. Our discussions are lively and informative, encompassing notable books addressing issues and history important to all of us. This year we are reading about race and the impact of racism. Recent books we have read include, “The Color of Law” by Richard Rothstein, “Common Ground” by J. Anthony Lukas, and “The Black Church: This is Our Story, This is Our Song” by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Don’t worry if you won’t have time to read all of our book choice before the meeting. You can still enjoy a great discussion and good fellowship.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is our monthly small group ministry for those who have some flexibility during the day to gather for good food and conversation. Lunch Bunch is for people of all ages as we take time around the table to share our lives together. When it is safe to gather in-person, lunch is provided and transportation can be arranged. When we meet over Zoom, we invite you to pull up a comfortable chair as we enjoy lunch together in our homes.

Wellspring
Wellspring is our women’s group. We generally gather on the third Wednesday of the month to light a candle, check in about what is on our hearts, and share a thematic conversation. Wellspring is a wonderful small group ministry for those women who may be seeking deeper connection to community and God.

Java Gents
Java Gents is an informal monthly gathering, often over breakfast, for the men of our congregation. It provides friendly fellowship and mutual support, with lively discussion of timely topics, and personal goings-on among the men.

Prayer Group
Our Prayer Group gathers early every Wednesday morning. It begins with a time of quiet contemplative prayer, followed by the sharing of joys and concerns in our lives, communities, and church.

Norwood Health Worship
When it is safe to do so, Union Church in Waban and the Norwood Health Center share a monthly worship service together. We gather with residents in the Norwood Health Center’s activity room as we sing, reflect on scripture, pray, and share communion. This is a Spirit-filled time of loving fellowship and praise-filled worship. Everyone is welcome.
